Comparative prosodic analysis of public hearings for educational purposes.

Version 2026-05-16 · jurisdiction: Brazil

This is a courtesy English translation of terms originally written in Portuguese. In case of any discrepancy, the Portuguese version prevails. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Art. 1Service definition

Vox Probabilis Academic is a comparative prosodic-analysis instrument intended for educational contexts. It is not a forensic device, not a polygraph, not an expert-examination instrument, not judicial evidence. The outputs are descriptive of prosodic consistency across procedural phases and do not constitute a binary classification of truthfulness.

Art. 2Exclusively educational purpose

Use of Academic is restricted to the following purposes: classroom teaching, academic research, individual study, and pedagogical preparation. Use as evidence in ongoing proceedings, in expert opinions submitted to a court, or in any document intended to produce legal effects in active proceedings is prohibited.

Art. 3Prohibition of use in ongoing proceedings

Academic's outputs may not be incorporated into court filings, expert opinions submitted to a court, or any document intended to produce legal effects in ongoing proceedings. Academic is a pedagogical instrument; applying it to live case material constitutes misuse.

Art. 4User responsibility

At the moment of upload, the user declares that the analyzed material is from a public hearing or one already final and unappealable, and contains no matter covered by judicial secrecy, minors' confidentiality, or family confidentiality, under the terms of the eligibility declaration. The service operator is not responsible for misuse of the material submitted by the user.

Art. 5LGPD

The voice is sensitive personal data under the General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13.709/2018), Art. 11. The legal basis for processing is the academic-purpose exception set out in Art. 7, item IV, of the LGPD, combined with the eligibility declaration provided by the user at the moment of upload. The user accepts that the material is processed for academic purposes. Raw audio is discarded within 60 seconds of processing; only numeric features (no semantic content) are retained per the retention policy of the contracted plan.

Art. 6Reproducibility clause

All of Academic's numeric outputs can be reproduced by the user by running the open-source pipeline available in the GitHub repository over the same audio. This is the service's integrity guarantee: there is no black box, proprietary scoring, or hidden weights. The methodology is documented at DOI 10.5281/zenodo.19396809.

Art. 7Limitation of liability

  1. The service is provided as is. The operator does not warrant fitness for any specific procedural or forensic purpose.
  2. In the event of a technical failure of the service — temporary unavailability, analysis error, loss of transcripts due to system failure — the operator's liability is limited to the greater of the following amounts:
    • (a) the amount paid by the user in the 30 days prior to the incident;
    • (b) R$ 500.00 (five hundred reais).
  3. The limitation set out in item II does not apply to cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the operator, nor does it remove the consumer rights provided in the Consumer Defense Code.
  4. The operator is not responsible for academic, procedural, or interpretive decisions made by the user based on Academic's outputs. Academic is a comparative-analysis instrument; interpretation and decision are exclusively the user's.

Art. 8Venue

To settle any questions arising from these Terms of Use, the venue of the District (Comarca) of Porto Seguro, State of Bahia, is elected, with express waiver of any other, however privileged.
